Dress Code (E.20)

Your school uniform confirms your attendance at the school and is a symbol of unity within the school community. It minimizes distractions in the learning process. It is important that you take pride in your appearance by wearing your complete uniform always remembering that by wearing it inside and outside the classroom and the school you are representing the school and your behavior should be a credit to both yourself and the school community.

   
Girls Pre K - 4: Gray Jumper, school sweater (embroidered with school name and logo), white uniform blouse and round (peter pan) collar and crossover or self made tie.
   
Girls 5 - 8: Gray Skirt, school sweater (embroidered with school name and logo), or vest white uniform blouse and pointed collar and crossover or self made tie.
   
Girls K - 8: All girls must wear maroon or gray blue knee high socks or tights, black or navy shoes. Sneaker-type shoes are not permitted; no high top shoes or boots are allowed. No jewelry is permitted. No makeup is allowed and only clear nail polish is permitted. Girls may wear maroon, white or gray hair ribbons or simple barrettes. Girls may wear ear studs only. Girls may not dye their hair.
   
Boys Pre K - 5: Gray dress uniform trousers (no corduroys or Dockers, or baggies), white shirts (long or short sleeves), black shoes, no sneaker type shoes or boots are permitted. Shoes must be made out of leather or leather like material- no suede. Maroon vest or sweater (embroidered with school name and logo), maroon uniform tie. Gray socks.
   
Boys 6 - 8: Gray dress uniform trousers (no corduroys or Dockers, or baggies), white shirts (long or short sleeves), black shoes, no sneaker type shoes or boots are permitted. Shoes must be made out of leather or leather like material- no suede. Maroon vest or sweater (embroidered with school name and logo), maroon uniform tie. Gray socks.
   
Boys K - 8: Jewelry is not permitted. Boys are not allowed to wear earrings of any kind. Boys may not dye their hair. Boys may not have braids.
   
Gym Uniform: Gray school uniform sweat pants with the Saint Angela Merici School name on the pants, St. Angela Merici T’ Shirt or sweatshirt and sneakers. On the day the children have gym, they may wear their gym clothes.
   
Girls and Boys: The presence of anything that proclaims a current fad is not permitted. Extraordinary hairstyles, high heels, short skirts- determined solely by the administration- are not permitted.

During the cold weather, students may wear the maroon uniform sweater or the uniform school sweatshirt. Other types of sweaters or sweatshirts may not be worn.

Closed black shoes with rubber soles are only shoes permitted. No sneaker type shoes are permitted. Shoes may not have any designs. Shoes must be made out of leather or leather like material- no suede.

Boots are unacceptable all year round except in bad weather conditions such as snow, freezing rain and ice.

Children may not wear “heelys” at any time in the school building.

Girls’ and Boys: The presence of anything that proclaims a current fad is not permitted. The maroon School Polo shirt with school logo may be worn from September 8, 2014 to October 17, 2014 and then from April 27, 2015 to June 17, 2015

Personal Appearance

A good personal hygiene routine should be followed daily: ears, neck, and fingernails should be given special attention. When appropriate, children should be instructed in the use of deodorant.

Uniforms should be neat and clean.

Hair should be clean and well groomed. The boys’ hair should not be below the shirt collar. Bangs should not be so long that they impede vision.

Parents will be notified if a child comes to school consistently in an unkempt manner. If no improvement is noticed within a reasonable amount of time, an appointment with the parents and with the guidance office will be made by school officials.
